Cervix
I went to my weekly appt today and my doctor said that I was about 1 cm but that my cervix was long and soft. What does that mean? The baby's head is still really high up though so we are going on a walk later this evening. HELP

im not positive but i know that when you dialate you also efface which means your cervix thins out. if its still long then i would say you still have a little while til the baby comes. sorry if that wasnt what u wanted to hear

1 cm means that your cervix is beginning to open and has 9 more cm to go before you begin to push. Soft and long cervix is a good thing basically it aides in helping your cervix open and usually means the time is close. Sg1112 is right about effacement...it refers to how thin or thick your cervix is the thinner it is the easier and more quickly you dialate so soft and long can be interpreted as thinning. GOOD LUCK!
