Question Is this normal

I am 38 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child, at my checkup yesterday, my doctor said that I am 4 centimeters dilated, but I haven't felt any contractions. Is this normal?

Re: Is this normal

I would guess you've been having Braxton Hicks contractions which would help you to dilate but nothing continuous. I think it is normal to be dilated and not be having any consistent contractions and I've heard of women being dilated at at the same point for a week or longer before going into labor but 4cm sounds like it's gotta be really close. Good luck!
