Mucus Plug--I think just lost mine

I just got out of the shower, and I think I lost my mucus plug. It's a creamy glob of goo. I'm 37 weeks. Has anyone else lost theirs?

I'm taking it with me tomorrow to my OB appt. Is that weird?

Re: Mucus Plug--I think just lost mine

I have heard different descriptions of what a mucus plug looks like...anywhere from what you're describing to a bloody blob of goo. Some people loose theirs all at once, others a little at a time and some people don't ever really "loose" it is just dissolves. I'm not sure if taking it with you is necessary, if your doctor checks you for dilation they should be able to tell if you've lost it or not. If it makes you feel better to take it and ask I don't think that it is weird, it's for your own knowledge.

I think it may be a part of the mucus plug. Apparently, mucus plugs are much larger than I thought. I'll update with the OB's comments tomorrow.

Re: Mucus Plug--I think just lost mine

Hi there,
I think it might be part of the mucus plug as well. With my last pregnancy, I thought I had lost the whole plug because I discovered almost exactly what you described--a big glob of what looked to be snot (sorry, if tmi!). But I continued to get smaller pieces of this same stuff coming out over the next couple days.
Your ob should be able to tell you if that's what it is or not if you bring it with you. But as another poster mentioned, I think they would also be able to tell you if you had lost it when they check you for dilation and effacement.

False alarm with the mucus plug. Just some of the lovely stuff we pregnant ladies expel during pregnancy.

I'm still soft but not dilated. Off to buy nursing bras and gowns now.
