I want to buy some pads for home but don't know what absorbency to purchase. How long does the heavy bleeding/discharge last? Just how heavy is heavy? When does it tend to taper off so I can use slim pads? I've always been a tampon girl, so this is really new to me.
I am guessing you are post partum? Or are you just preparing for when you are? Either way, tampons never worked for me so I am the expert on pads. When I first had my daughter last year, I wore super absorbency, long pads for the first week, then regular for the next and then was able to cut down to a panty liner. Of course it all depends on how long you have bleeding for afterwards. I thought I would never stop!!!

Oh, definitely go for the extra long super absorbent ones! Who wants to mess around??? And bring them with you to the hospital since the ones they give you are usually straight out of 1952 (at least I didn't need a belt to attach them!).
My hairdresser and I were talking about this the other day and she said she had another customer who wore adult diapers instead of pads -- didn't want to mess around with a pad slipping and making a mess. She said she just bought a big box at the warehouse club and used them all up. It seemed expensive at first, but was worth it in the grand scheme of things. Shrug... maybe I'll try that this time around!
