| Re: carbs and sugar levels
You should be eating six small meals a day. The carbs should be around the following for each meal:
Breakfast - 30 grams
Morning Snack - 15 grams
Lunch - 60 grams
Afternoon Snack - 30 grams
Dinner - 60 grams
Evening Snack - 30 grams
An hour after you eat (one of the major meals, not the snacks), your blood sugar should be below 140. Two hours after you eat (one of the major meals, not the snacks), your blood sugar should be below 120. You should test after Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. They also have you test each morning when you get up, which is called your fasting blood sugar. This number should be below 90.
I guess everyone can be put on a different plan, but this is the meal plan and testing schedule I am on. I was having difficulty with the early morning number (the fasting number) even after I changed my diet, so I now do a shot of insulin each night before i go to bed.
