Women I've talked to especially women in my family have told me all sorts of things about lactating. Some never had any leaking until after the baby was born or late in their third trimester. Others mentioned some but very little and on and off. I've been lactating since about 14 weeks but for the past two weeks its been a large amount and happening regularly. I know this is normal for some women. I'm just curious as to how many other women experience this early on and is it possible to leak out all of your colostrum? I've also had extremely sharp pains particularly in my left breast which leaks more often.
i started leaking at 20 some weeks i dont remember an exact time but i have heard of women leaking early. no you cant leak out all your colostrum your body will keep producing it til the baby is born and it turns to milk. you may notice as you get farther a long that you will stop leaking for a little. i have some leaky days then it will stop for a few days but then it comes back. the pain in your breast is the ducts preparing to produce milk. if its more in your left then that will probably be the breast that gives more milk
Crossing-I am 19 weeks and I have been leaking for about 2 weeks. It isn't a lot, and it comes and goes. I asked my OB about it on Friday and he said that it is normal and not to worry about it. He said I will not leak out all of the colostrum before the babies get here. I really don't think you have to worry about anything. It actually might help us breastfeed later on!!!
