hemroids question

OK, so this is a yucky TMI question, but there is shyness in pregnancy. How do I know if I have hemroids? I've been having pain during BMs, and I have bled a couple of time. I see my doctor on Tuesday, but I guess I dont want to go in knowing nothing.

Re: hemroids question

normally you can see them, i have like 2 or 3. there disgusting! but there you can also get ones on the inside that you cant see and those are usually the ones that bleed. unfortunately there isnt anything you can do about it and they can get quite painful at times

Re: hemroids question

I have not seen them, and I dont feel like I have anything there. I think they could be inside. I will ask my dr about it at my next appt.

Re: hemroids question

For the ones inside all you can do is add some stool softener (without laxative) and fiber to your diet. Check with your doctor first, but both are usually safe in pregnancy. Buy them over the counter at the pharmacy. I had hemm. surgery (NOT fun!) in 2003 and I still take a fiber tablet everyday. I took a stool softener everyday for about a year before I stopped. The packages say that you can take much more, so experiment for a few days for what works for you. Also, try to eat high-fiber cereals and breads and cruciferous veggies everyday.

Re: hemroids question

Yeah, my dr said they are probably internal, and to take extra fiber and ear more fruit. I havent started that yet, but I havent had any problems for a few days.

Re: hemroids question

Do these normally just go away on their own? Because I feel like I've had them ever since delivering my ds, 15 months ago (I didn't have them throughout the pregnancy, however)!

Re: hemroids question

No, they don't go away. The swelling shrinks, so you're left with essentially a large skin "tag". If you take a mirror and look, you'll see 'em. Surgery removes the skin... but is incredibly awful.
