Re: 26 weeks and weight gain

As long as the baby is growing normally & the dr isn't worried, then you should try not to worry about it as well. Everybody is different. I have heard of women not gaining any weight at all throughout their entire pregnancies & delivering healthy babies. I wish I could give you some of my extra weight - lol. I'm the opposite of you...27 weeks along & already gained about 30 pounds.

Re: 26 weeks and weight gain

I am 36 weeks pregnant and have not gained any weight throughout my pregnancy, in fact, I am down 4 pounds. I have ultrasounds and the baby seems perfectly fine and is at the 44 percentile about two weeks ago. I was overweight to start with, so I think just the change in diet along with the no alcohol (I was a frequent drinker) has helped me lose weight. It is still strange though to think that I am going to come out of this pregnancy weighing a lot less than when I started. As long as you and the baby are being monitored, I am sure that everything is OK.

Re: 26 weeks and weight gain

as long as you arent starving yourself and the baby is getting all the nutrition it needs then thats what matters. at my appt 2 wks ago i had already gained 37 pounds and i know i am not having a 37 pound baby thats just me eating too much. i go tomorrow for my 36 wk and im hoping i havent gained anymore. everyones different if it was a problem the dr would have said something.

Re: 26 weeks and weight gain

Like the other posters have said, don't worry about it as long as the baby is healthy and your doctor is ok with it.

A friend of mine had terribly bad morning sickness, there is a specific name for it but I can't remember what it is, and she was about 120 and lost over 20 lbs because of the MS. She had to go every week for IV, but turns out, she had a quack for a doc, and he wasn't giving her any nutrients at all, just water. She was very, very bad shape. She couldn't walk at all, was just a stick. Finally, switched doctors and gained a little weight in the last two months of pregnancy. The baby was healthy, normal weighing over 7 lbs. So try not to worry.

Re: 26 weeks and weight gain

In my first pregnancy I gained 30 lbs total and lost 25 of it later. This time around, at 13 weeks, I haven't gained any weight yet. Actually, according to the doctor's scale, I've lost 2 lbs! I really haven't changed my eating habits that much... in fact, I've added more food since I usually have a large glass of milk and some sort of snack late in the evening (which I didn't use to do). I'm a size 18 to begin with, so it's not hurting my feelings that I'm not gaining weight... LOL!

Re: 26 weeks and weight gain

I'm on my fifth baby and currently 27 weeks. With every pregnancy I gain under 20 lbs. (averagely about 12-18.) In fact, the last preg. I gained 12 lbs. but 2 wks. post p. (after all the nasty bloating went down) I weighed about 2 lbs. less than pre-preg! Weird. BUT. (and there's always one of those, isn't there?) For me, the biggest downfall is breast-feeding! I'm so good with weight while prego, but develop this horribly huge app when bfing! Then I gain like 10 or 15 lbs and then am up to preg. weight again! With every child 5-10 lbs always sticks around for me. I guess it's a souvenier? lol

Re: 26 weeks and weight gain

I wouldn't worry about it if the dr is fine with it and you're eating like your suppose to and taking your prenatals there is nothing else you can do. With my first I lost 25lbs and gained and lost about 10lbs of it the whole pregnacy after I had him (7lb 22inch DS) and went for my 6 wk check up I was 38lbs less than I was when I got pg. This time it's the same thing I lost 10-15lbs to start with and I am currently 35wks and I have not gained it back this time either I do gain a couple lbs then loose a few. So this time I am waiting to see how much less (or more) I weigh at my 6 week check up.
I have had several u/s to check DD size and she is right where she is suppose to be the last time she was ahead. So try not to worry I consider myself Lucky to not gain any weight because before I got pg I was overweight.
