any remedy for itchy belly skin?

I asked this in the October board, then realized I should ask the whole community of experienced experts here.

My lower belly skin is sooo itchy, I can hardly stand it. I have tried maternity lotions, regular lotions, expensive lotions, with or without clothing and more. Baths work ok, but I can't exactly hang out in a bath all day. The area does have fairly new stretch marks (2 wks) - could that be what is causing the irritation? Does anyone one have any tricks to sooth the skin?

Is anyone else experiencing extremely itchy belly skin?

I'm currently 36.5 wks.

Re: any remedy for itchy belly skin?

I'm 34 weeks and mine itches like crazy too. My stretch marks from my first (I didn't have but 4) have grown and I have more to add to them now too. But we can thank the stretch marks for this one. Most of the pregnancy it is the hormones causing all the problems but not this time.

lotion, lotion, lotion...I like the thicker ones that are more like cream than lotion. It helps with the itching.

Re: any remedy for itchy belly skin?

Sounds strange... but peppermint cooling gel worked a treat! And I smelled minty fresh, lol!
