how long do you usually lose blood clots after giving birth? i lost one today that was pretty good size, not big enough to have to call the dr though. also how long do you bleed bright red for before it turns brown?

I'm pretty sure it's normal to continue losing clots after giving birth, however I seem to remember my doctor telling me that if it's any bigger than a loonie (which is a bit bigger than a quarter), to give her a call.
Also, the bleeding can last quite awhile--mine lasted about 5 weeks before it turned brown, and then at the end it goes yellow. Yucky, I know.

I would go to your doctor and ask for an ultrasound to make sure that everything came out after delivery. I had the same questions and got the same answers, and 17days past delivery I had a post pardum hemorrhage which resulted in a 4 unit blood transfusion and then months of feeling horrible while having a new born. It's best to be safe than sorry and the ultrasound is the only way.

so far i havent had anymore and my bleeding has slowed down a lot and has started to turn brown. should i still go to the dr anyway or am i probably ok?

If it's slowing down, I wouldn't bother going to the doctor. I'm sure you're fine.
