Hi, newbie here lurking on infertility board, but wanted to know if anyone out there has gotten a BFP with mod-severe endo after a lap? I had a lap done in April. I have moderate endo and the RE said he removed what he could see and put my ovary back in place sincee it was pinned back with adhesions. He recommended trying for a few months. It's been 3 cycles and AF keeps showing her nasty head. DH's spermies are normal. My tubes and everything else is normal based on Lap and prior HSG. 28 days cycles. using CBE fertility monitor and basal temping too. It appears as if I am O'ing.
DH and I are both 37 and don't want to wait for too long. TTC for 14 months.
Need some positive stories perhaps. Any luck with IUI's? I heard IUI is almost pointless if you have mod - severe endo since the main problem is that the inflamation of endo causes eggs and sperms to die. Maybe after Lap it's better.
please reply with some advice/stories. Starting to get worried and depressed.
I also had mod/sev. endo and my 1rst RE told me the same thing, I actually had a lap, went on femara for 6 months (its like lupron to shrink the endo more) and then he wanted to try more IUI's ( I had already had 4 before the lap), we did 2 more and he still recommended waiting 6 more months so I found a new RE, did 1 round of IVF--failed, did 2nd round of IVF --have twin girls, and now I am pregnant naturally on my own with # 3, so it can happen. My RE said IVF or IUI with injectables has shown the most success for endo patients. Good Luck in whatever you decide but I would make sure you doc. understands your frustrations, that stress can also add to fertility problems.
I had stage one endo but was unable to get pregnant for around 2 years so this stuff can really make it hard to get pregnant. I had surgery to remove it and was pretty sore for a while... Wanted to give myself time to heal (4 or 5 months) before really trying to get pregnant so 3 months after having surgery I ended up pregnant. Hubby and I had not had sex for about 5 days so I'm sure he had tons of sperm at that time. Other than that, unlike the last 2+ years I wasn't really "trying" that time since I kinda wanted any internal scar tissue from the surgery to heal a little longer.... I'm 34... If only I would of had my endo removed years ago I could be on my second child by now.... Our baby boy is due in August.
Hang in there... There's a very good chance you can get pregant now!
ps. I tried femara, aka; letrozole, a couple of times and IUI a couples of times before I removed the endo and they failed for me. I got pregnant naturally after the lap.
Thanks girls for the responses. Congrats on your pregnancies! That's encouraging news! We will keep trying! I wonder if it's good to have hubby save some sperm up for a few days and BD on O day and after O day. We may try that this month. We normally BD every day from about 2 or 3 days preceding O to about 2 days after... I use the CBE fertility monitor. I usually show a peak day on CD13 or 14.
Well, thanks again! Hopefully soon I can be officially on the pregnancy board sharing questions and concerns with fellow pregger girls!! :-)
In 2001 I had my 5th surgery for endo with a fertility specialist. I had been on lupron 3 times previously. My right ovary was removed and all but 10 percent of my left remained. The Dr told me if I didn't have a baby in a yr, I never would. I was single, and the time wasn't right.
Skip to 2006. I got off the pill and 3 mths later I was pregnant. Naturally. We were thrilled! Luckily, I knew when we conceived, and made a note. We had a boy in 2007. All from my measly little sliver of an ovary.
When we were ready again, I just timed the sex exactly like before. 10 days from the last day of my previous period. 12 days later, positive result. A miracle. It was the first try, and I never thought it would work. My endo after the first baby was returning with a vengence.
Hang in there and I wish you all the luck in the world.
