Are you having contractions? If not your cervix may stay at 2cm...and you never know when your water will break, you could get up to 6cm and still not have your water break.

Your water does not have to break for you to be in labor. In fact, oftentimes they doctors will break it once you are already at the hospital. The best way to determine labor is by timeable contractions that become longer, stronger and closer together. I was 5 cm dilated when I went to the hospital with my first and my water still hadn't broken, but I was most definitely in labor!

i am having contractions. i get this tightning feeling then a few seconds later it goes away. happens when i sit or walk.. i have not been timing the contractions though.. i dont think they are every 2 minutes. sometimes they can be.. its not that painful either.. my ob doctor didnt tell me to go to the hospital-even though she checked my cervix and stated i am 2cm dilated.. my due date is not until july 19th and this is my first kid..

What you are experiencing is normal. You can go through an entire labor and not have your membranes rupture until you push out the baby.

You are not in labor. There is no need to go to the hospital yet.

Good luck!
