Exclamation pregnant after stroke

hello all!
i just received the news yesterday that i was pregnant this was not planned at all im extrememly happy but also extremely worried about both of our healths. I had my stroke in december 2008 and im off my blood thinnners, do i need to be back on? Also I just got off my seizure medication in may and now its august and im pregnant im not sure how far long i am. I.m also concerned cuz ive had a cyst on my left ovary since february of this year but because of my health history they wanted to play the waiting game to see if it would burst on its own, this is something natural to me seeing i had cervical cancer at 19, diagnosed with PCOS while i was in the army in 2003, than i had moved to the carribbean for a year n thats when i found out I had Endo. So my chances of conceiving have been slim to none really. They said i was going to have to be on Metformin to conceive. I conceived my daughter in jan 06 without fertitly drugs but i had a rough pregnancy. I had ovarian cysts that ruptured and put me n the hostipal for a week while i was 5 months along, than i had extreme adema problems in my hands and cankles!!!! and i was even wearing size 12 shoes, i had to rest alot because of the swelling, and of course i wasnt used to the heat n humity here in oklahoma. I had just moved here than. The doc said i have blood work on monday to confirm i was pregnant and than an ultrasound to see how far long i am?! and to make sure that cyst is ruptured. That he wants me off my prozac and stop taking any pain medication. I can understand the pain meds, but not the antidepressants? Is it okay for me to start taking prenatal viamtins? Also im doing water aerobics every other day to lose the weight the meds have so gracefully put on me these past few months but now im not sure if thats a good idea? I've been calorie counting and trying to exerise every other day im not sure what to do. can some1 plz help me here

thanks

Re: pregnant after stroke

i wouldn't doubt you will have to see a high risk specialist sometime during this pregnancy. during pregnancy, your blood doubles and you are at risk for blood clots and with your previous stroke you may want to be careful. there are blood thinners that are safe to take during pregnancy, but you have to talk with your doctor. and there are anti-epleptic medications that are safe during pregnancy as well...now if you plan on breastfeeding you may want to consult a lactation consultant with medications that can cross into the breast milk. with your previous history, if your doctor is not gonna do anything you may just want to get a second opinion because usually during pregnancy, any health problems that you have esclade during pregnancy. good luck!!!
