what does being dialted 1 cm in or out mean?

it means your cervix has dilated one cm. It doesn't necessarily mean that labor will start very soon but it is part of the process that is your body preparing itself for labor. Are you effaced at all?

I was dilated to 4cm and walking around like that for a while. i wouldn't worry. your cervix is getting ready

Nothing really. I went into preterm labor with my first at 30 weeks and was dialated at 1 cm. They stopped it, I didn't have my DD until my original due date and still was only 1 cm.
