| Re: Gestational diabetes......testing??
hi, my df has diabetes and has had it for 3+ yrs now. she did not have it when she was pg with her two dd's but did fail the one hour tests with them both and had to have the three hour tests. she passed both of those and was able to continue her regular diet. This is pretty common for pg women and with proper diet and maybe insulin during the rest of the pg all should be fine. You do have a higer chance of having a big baby though and sometimes they take it early. So far with this pg, she has to check her glucose levels 5 times a day by pricking her finger but has been able to just maintain it with diet. You will probably pass your three hour test, but it is just a precaution. good thing we have this kind of medical technology to help all of you precious women and babies. Please try not to worry. Afterall, Val has diabetes right now and it's not a black or white disease, it's alot of gray area and can be controlled. With just being slightly elevated, you may be able to get it to go down with frequent walking as well and watching the amount of sugar and carbohydrates that you eat. Here's wishing the best to you ! Any more questions, we will try to answer. Take care <IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wave.gif">
