Nightmares

I'm almost 9 weeks pregnant, and I had my first nightmare lastnight...it was awful.
.
I dreamt that I delivered my baby, and it had 2 ears...but they were both on one side of his head. (one was above the other)...well the doctors took him away after delivery, and DH and I were crying...they told me that we could see him in a few hours. So when DH and I finally went down to see him, he was in a toddler bed drinking from sippy cup (he was like a year old, and huge!)...I kept asking why he was so big, and why he was holding his own sippy cup, and the dr. kept saying thats what happens when the babies are born with 2 ears on one side.....it was the most awful dream ever. It was so real, and when i woke up my pillow was all wet from sobbing.

Anybody else have weird nightmares like that?

Re: Nightmares

Also, has anybody dreamt about a particular sex, and then have it be true? I have had a couple dreams about our little boy, so I'm wondering if that might mean anything?

This is our first child, so DH and I aren't hoping for any sex in particular...(well, I think deep down DH is hoping its a boy,he just won't come out and say it!) I'm just wondering if my subconsious already knows the gender...does that make sense?

Re: Nightmares

Heaven- I have dreamt about 3 times over the last two weeks that I had a baby boy. If I end up testing BFP, I'll let you know in a few months if that's what I'm carrying. I think there is a part of us that knows a lot more than our conscious minds recognize.
[This message has been edited by shaylind (edited 02-21-2003).]

Re: Nightmares

I am so sorry you woke up upset...as I would too! But what a funny nightmare! I also had LOTS of dreams that were weird like that when I was pregnant. Now that you ask that other question and I think about it...I was convinced I was having a boy both times I was pregnant but always dreamed of girls. I actually had girls. The baby in my dreams had beautful dark curly hair and big huge blue eyes and looked like a little China doll. I had two beautiful babies, one a red head with big blue eyes, and the other was born with a funny mix of brown/blonde/red and big blue eyes (she is now blonde)!

Don't worry...your baby won't have two ears on the same side of his/her head! I promise!

Re: Nightmares

As I mentioned in another post, I have had a dream a few times where I would just be sitting around the house and realize I had forgotten about the baby (who never cried) and didn't know how long it had been since I fed him or paid attention to him. It's like I forgot I even had a baby. Well, when I go to check on him, he's sitting in a carrier on the sofa in the other room with an empty bottle beside him. I picked up the bottle to see if it was empty, and it was almost empty but the milk was all soured and lumpy and curdled. I've woken up near tears, too. In my dream, I had a beautiful baby, but I think I'm just scared to death of being a bad mother, since this is my first, and I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing.

Re: Nightmares

What an awful nightmare.
I've not really had nightmares but my dreams are very very vivid. When I wake sometimes it's hard to understand that they were not reality. I also catch myself having deja-vu all the time. I'll be doing something and just know that I've done the exact same thing before with exactly the same movement, thoughts, etc...It's been really strange.
I really hope the nightmares end for you.

Re: Nightmares

Well I had my first and hopefully last really bad vivid nightmare last week! I brought our child to work to show everyone and then set the baby down. Went to doing my job and left to go home!! I don't know if I made all the way or not before I realized my baby was still at work. So I went back to where I thought I left the baby and there was a doll in it's place. Needless to say I went bolistic and started freaking out. Then I went into another office and recognized a blanket from our house and went over to it there was another doll, but when I lifted the doll my baby was behind it! The baby was on the verge of death - all blue and discolored!! I revived our child and fed the baby, but that face was sooo clear and it freaked me out soooo bad!!!! I woke up in major distress and tried my best to keep myself awake the rest of the night.

But I went back to sleep obviously and dreamt that our boy was 2 days old and could take and walk and had hair down to his midback! Well our boy walked up to me and told me he was going to find a family who wanted him and wouldn't leave him places all the time!!!

Nice, huh?!!! I was not in a very good mood when I woke up to say the least!!!! The things we dream of!!

I pray all you have sweet dreams and we all stop having these awful nightmares!!!!

God Bless,
Angel

Re: Nightmares

Ok on the subject of dreams, I had a dream that my BF, myself and my extended family from across the country were in a mini-van going to the lake to go swimming.. I had a little girl with me that I am pretty sure was my child.

We go to the lake and itís polluted with like decapitated pig heads and swimming rats it looks like a war zone or something but in we go my baby in her water wings.

Once we get in we are attacked by swimming squirrels.. I was fighting off rodents in filthy scary water ... that dream sucked!

Re: Nightmares

I had a dream when I was pregnant that my little girl was born and the doctor was looking at her all funny and i could see his face between my legs... because i was still lying there right after giving birth... and he looked at me and then lifted her up and when she looked at me... it was the face of my boyfriend (his adult face, 5 o clock shadow and all) and a baby girl body. In my dream i screamed and i felt like i really did scream when i awoke. lol
