Gestional diabetes

I am 30 weeks preganant with my first child and have just found out i have gestional diabetes.
I am overweight and but... Have not gained an ounce with this pregnancy so far. Not trying to loose just eating my usual andt seem to fill up fasted ...hince the no weight gain.
But!! Now i got this diabetes thing and have to check my blood sugars 4 times a day and have to watch every piece of cardboard i eat! Which has carbs/sugar in it!
I am very frustrated- this is my first week and blood sugar levels are staying around 130-140 with a fasting in the am of 112. What is so frustrating is...doctor was fasting to be less than 90 in the am and no higher than 120 all day long.
Does anyone have any diet suggestions/ safe foods they can share with me......im really bummed

Re: Gestional diabetes

I would ask your doctor to recommend a dietician for you to see. Most insurances cover them. From having diabetic relatives I learned some foods you would think are ok are not really ok to eat.
I know they are able to eat foods like graham crackers, fruit, vanilla ice cream. I did learn that ketchup is bad and so can some prepared foods be with the extra added sugar/carbo. But each person could have a different level of what is good/bad so I would think a dietician would know best.
Good luck.
