strange pains

I am 9 weeks and have been having a strange pain in my lower abdomen. It's a quick pain and doesn't hurt too awful bad. I am taking macrobid for a bladder infection. I've never had a bladder infection that I know of. Is this where the pain is when you have one? I'm really confused because it hurts all the way into my lower pelvis. It's been hurting for about 2 hours and the pain has decreased a little bit. I've worried myself sick over this. Does anyone have any advice?

Re: strange pains

A bladder infection would give you an "ache" just above the pubic bone. I suspect the pains you are feeling are round ligament pains - caused by the ligaments attached to your uterus stretching as your uterus grows, and completely normal. At 9 weeks, you are right on time for these! They can sometimes be very very painful, but tend to come and go quickly. sometimes they hang around for a couple hours, tho.

If it continues to hang around, or gets worse, call your doctor ... that is what they are there for!

Good luck!

Re: strange pains

sounds like round ligament pains to me too. I had them at about the same time, and sudden movement, coughing, sneezing, or laughing could send a sharp pain down into my pelvis. Just a warning... mine got a little better for a few weeks, then got bad again around 16 or 17 weeks.

Re: strange pains

Yep sounds like lovely ligament pain! Yeah I had them around that time too once and awhile and now that I am 16 wks it does seem to be more frequent and a bit more intense too. Mine though I think that I felt yesterday was from the rounding that is trying to take place. My "spare tire" and the lower abdomen are trying to fuse together. It's sooo much fun being pg isn't it and all the great stuff we get to go through!! But it will be soooo worth it and that's what we have to remind ourselves!!!

God Bless,
