My cousin is 13 weeks pregnant. She had a vaginal ultrasound at 9 weeks and the baby appeared fine, strong heartbeat and all. Well last week she went in for her checkup and she said that they could not find the heartbeat. The doc told her that everything was okay and that it was still a little early to hear on the doppler thing they use . My question is has anyone else had this happen. My cousin is somewhat overweight, could that have anything to do with it?
I just want her to have a healthy baby . She has wanted one or so long.
Being overweight can make it difficult to hear the heartbeat. If her Doctor said everything seems fine, than her uterus probably measured correctly for how many weeks she is. She should hear it for sure next time
Its really sweet of you to be so concerned for you cousin.
Yeah I totally agree have her get an ultrasound just to put her mind at ease!! With me the baby kept moving and wouldn't stay still, so we knew the baby was healthy, but they still did an u/s to be sure!! Please advise her to go in and put her and everyone else around her like you at ease!

When I was exactly 12 weeks pregnant with my son I went for my check up and my OB/GYN couldn't find the heartbeat. So he said he thought everything was fine but just to put my mind at ease they did a vaginal ultrasound on me & the baby was just fine.
