Baby shower - what do you girls think?

I am pregnant with my third child. It was a bit of a suprise therefore I had gotten rid of most of my baby clothes and other stuff after my 2nd child. I did save some major stuff such as a crib swing, etc. Here's my dilema. My mom & my best friend keep mentioning a baby shower. I don't want to appear to be selfish since I had one 10 yrs ago with my 1st child, but it would be helpful. I wouldn't mind having a shower but wonder what the invitee's will think since most attended my 1st one. So ladies, what are your thoughts?

Re: Baby shower - what do you girls think?

Have one, by all means! I am expecting my third and had one w/my first. My mom is throwing a joint shower for my sister and me(she had a boy on Thursday, 10lbs and 21"long. I can't wait to see him!) and it's my sister's 4th baby. I believe every child should be celebrated coming into the world and that is what a baby shower is really all about, right? <IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dance.gif">

Personally, I didn't have one the first time b/c I thought it would be selfish. But to tell you the truth I wish I had. It would be a time to celebrate your baby and recieve some much needed stuff. Babies are expensive. Why not have a party to get together have fun and recieve some presents?? Party on!! You'll be glad you did. If someone doesn't want to have to buy something they simply won't show up and I wouldn't worry about it too much. Something I have noticed about most women..they all love babies and buying baby things. I'm sure no one will think you are selfish and will enjoy going into the baby departments of the stores..most women seem to have a fatal attraction with those places!! Women seem to bond over preg. especially women who have had children. I'm sure your friends and family would love to get together with you!!
