I am currently 8wks 3dys. I am having some cramping and I am worried. When I was 6wks3dys I went for an U/S that didn't show a heartbeat and the tech said this was unusual. I have another appointment for tomorrow. Please someone give me some good advise about what to expect.

I am not very experienced with pregnancy. I am pregnant with my first baby now. I just wanted to give you my opinion. I had cramping also. It came and went throught my days, and lasted a few weeks. I asked my Doctor and he said it was normal due to my uterus enlarging. I didn't also hear my baby's heartbeat till about 12 weeks along. So don't worry, I am sure everything will be fine. I am now 23 weeks along and everything looks good and I went through exactly what you are going through. Cheer up!!!
I have had sever cramping since day one. And it scared me to death! Turns out it is just gas (I guess). As long as you are not bleeding I wouldn't worry about it, but even if you see a spot of blood go back to the doctor and make them do another ultrasound. It might still not be anything, but it will give you another look at your baby. But, don't worry about the cramping.
That is pretty early to see a heartbeat anyhow. I had an ultrasound at 7 weeks and 2 days, and I did see the heartbeat, but they said before I did it not to worry if I didn't because it was early yet. Usually it is safe to say that you will hear it around the 8th week. Plus, all the books tell us that we can be a week on either side of what a "normal" week is. For example, if you are at 6 weeks, your development could be more like the average 5th week, the 6th week, or the 7th week. You may just be a week behind, development-wise. We all grow at different rates. This is certainly not an exact science. Good luck and keep us posted.

My first u/s was at 9 wks and we got to see the <IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/heart.gif"> beat, but hopefully soon you will be able to see yours too. I had the appointment today...it went great. The heartbeat was 157 bpm and the chance for miscarriage has dropped to below 5%. The doc said everything looked great. Thanks for all the support. It really helped. The EDD now is 10/03/03. They said I am 7wks4dys which would have made the initial date off by 1 week...which is why the heart wasn't yet beating...it just wasn't old enough...Once again thanks for all of your responses.
