Am i pregnant???

Sounds Like a crazy question huh? I have two children now and only had to take one test with each one... however with this baby (if I am) I have no idea? I'm 10 days late and the first two tests said positive... but they were so light that you could barely read the test. My sons' was that way also but he is here! I scheduled a Dr's appmnt. for next week... but my Husband I are so anxious to find out for sure so we took a thrid one and it said negative... today I took a 4th one and it also said negative-- why would I have 2 positive tests and 2 negatives? HELP!

Re: Am i pregnant???

How long did you wait to see the results on the first two that came back slight positive? Some tests say not to interperet the results after 10 minutes because a very faint line will sometimes show. I have practically wished lines there before, and swore I saw them, but after some time, but really there was nothing. I also have heard that if the pregnancy is not viable, the hcg levels will drop off enough to show that you are not pregnant. I don't know if this is true though. I had a miscarriage only 7 months ago and I took a hpt 6 weeks after I knew that the pregnancy was not viable and the test came back positive. My midwife said the pregnancy symptoms and hcg levels would remain that way until I had a dnc or miscarried. But I was also 9 weeks, so by then there is much more hcg being produced. Maybe you should save yourself the agony of not knowing (which I know only too well) and get a blood test. I know they are expensive, about 50.00 but if you continue with the hpt's it could get up there anyway (another fact I know only too well).
Good luck, and I'm sorry I can't help you more.

Re: Am i pregnant???

Thanks Moly... I thought about that also... but I know with the first test at least, I waited in the bathroom for less than 5 minutes and took it to my husband to see if he saw a line also, or if I was "wishing" a line there... He confirmed the line. I hope we are... I'm still 10 days late today, and threw up my dinner last night for about an hour! ??? But the two negatives have me a little down. I hope the 14th comes FAST for the Dr. apptmnt. Thanks again!

Hi Outdoormommy

Were the last couple of tests you took the same brand as the first two? I had the same thing happen with me! I used Clear Blue Easy and got very faint lines - using Equate I barely got a line. Different HPT's detect at different levels...so it's possible the one that showed positive is capable of picking up a lower level of HCG in your body.

Good luck, please keep us posted.
