I was wondering if anyone has had sciatic nerve pain? I sometimes get a sharp pain in the lower right side of my back and in my rectal area. I've read that this could be the pregnancy putting pressure on my sciatic nerve. Does this sound familiar? I still worry about holding this pregnancy to term, so I am also concerned about the lower back pain. However, I have not had any bleeding since the first implantation spotting I had about a month ago.
Any thoughts on this?
Thank you for your continued support.
Wyoming - it sounds once again like you and I are having the EXACT same pregnancy! I had baaaaaaad sciatic nerve pain that started early - around 6 or 7 weeks and even prompted me to call my doctor. He had no answers for me other than my bigger-than-average uterus was probably causing it. I still get it, so who knows. Maybe it's just something we'll have to deal with throughout our pregnancies, possibly worsening as we get bigger.
I'm at 13 weeks now and NEVER thought this baby would make it past the first few months, so hang in there babe. I still have my days where I think he/she won't make it until next July or even until tomorrow and have the doppler on my belly half the day. To my "surprise" the baby is always in there, heart chugging away. I can even hear him/her move now on the doppler. It makes some awesome noises!! We'll be looking back at our paranoia next year when we have our newborns and will smile. <IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif">
In the meantime, try to grin and bear it with the back pain, if ya can. Mine hasn't gotten any better at all. It gets much worse when I'm sitting and especially during car trips. Does yours get worse or better if you change positions? Next time you're at the doc maybe ask him and see what he has to say.
Hope all is well!!

Andrea- Again, thank you! It's funny that we're both having the same symptoms. It makes me feel better to know that I'm not alone. The pain seems to lessen when I lay on my left side. Car rides are hard. I seem to get very queasy in the car as well. I have just moved into my 10th week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Congrats on your 13th week! Sounds like you and your little one are doing just fine. I know, next year at this time we will look back and wish we hadn't worried so much. But you know how it is. This is not something to take lightly. When our babies are born a whole new set of worries will crop up. We just have to take time to enjoy our pregnancies... and later, our babies!
Best of luck. I'm sure we'll write again!
I have the same problem, Sciatica. My doctor said sitting is the worst thing to do. He said if its really bad to get into a warm tub but nothing else you can do about it, said it should go away once the baby is born. He did say to be sure when you sit you sit with your back straight up-good posture can help you and to get up every hour if you can. Other day I went for an ulsnd and had to lie on my back was sooo hard to do that with the back pain, I was so glad when it was over.
