That happened to me when I was pregnant. I had the biggest cravings for Cole Slaw from KFC, and when I would get it I would be physically ill from the smell.
You are most definitely not alone!! I do the same thing, isn't it weird?!! You think you want something sooooo bad and then when you actually get it you don't even want to be near it! Our stomachs and minds play such tricks on us. Lately I have been craving tuna & pickles, but now it seems like I don't anymore. I don't know what's up with that. But I guess we'll see what I crave next. Still loving DQ french fries, though!!!!

My big thing was a cheese pizza. I fussed and fussed and fussed. When I finally went and got one I put it in the fridge (I think it's still there) and never took the first bite. My fiance just shakes his head and goes about his business
I've done this with corn chips, vegetable soup, and oranges the most. I want them so bad, but then I can't even look at them.

I'm having a similar problem. My "cravings" are really whatever I can stomach because there's not much that appeals to me at all. It tastes good when I eat it, but then I can't stand the thought of it for days and weeks afterwards. I had pineapple a couple of weeks ago and now I can't even tolerate pineapple yogurt! Same with black olives, pickles, chips and salsa... It's a real challenge figuring out what to eat every day!
I am having this problem big time! I wanted Gyros SOOO bad I made my boyfriend drive me 1/2 hour away from home to get some that I heard were decent and once they were on my plate .. I picked off the tomatoes and ate them and NOTHING else ...
guess what got me through my few weeks of "blaahness" (which is what I call it, because I never actually got sick, but food turned my stomach)? Baked potatoes. They were the only thing I ate for weeks 6-7 when I was queezy, and they never made me sick. Like kmc said, I really only craved them because they didn't turn my stomach.
[This message has been edited by siren24 (edited 02-14-2003).]
I do the same thing! Maybe the food we crave is the food the baby wants. And we don't even like hehe. just a thought and a little humor.
[This message has been edited by jennylyn85 (edited 02-14-2003).]
I find my biggest vice is TV commercials. Whatever they are advertising I want. Now that I think about it, it is mostly burgers. MMmmmm, I could go for one right now.....anyhow, back to topic. I am 7 weeks, and no nausea yet, so when I get it I eat it. It is that simple. Luckily I am eating very healthy otherwise and just pigging out every once in awhile. I have just gained a pound since I got pregnant, so all is well so far. I am just glad I don't drive by the fast food places on my way home from work!
Karcia, that's funny. My DH says he firmly believes that pregnant women aren't so much craving things as they are extremely "open to suggestion." Which is really funny when I think about the fact that the things I have been craving are things I hear people mention (or see on TV commercials) and think "mmmm.... that sounds good. I've also had other moms tell me what they craved when they were pregnant and think "mmm..." so I definitely understand. DH says pg women are so lucky that everyone caters to their every food whim. He's taken me out for pancakes at 10:30 pm before because my friend was burning a candle that smelled like pancakes and maple syrup, and I had to have them, right then.
I totally agree about the smell thing!! When people warm things up in the microwave I start to crave those foods soooo bad, but then sometimes of course when I actually do eat them they don't taste as good as they smelled. Oh well, I am sure it will get a lot more interesting!!

I eat ALOT of baked potatos... its very good that Wendy's is right around the corner from my job so at lunch I get a tater for 99 cents, an ice tea and if I'm SUPER hungry some chicken nuggets ... pretty decent lunch and under 3 dollars
