I just purchased some early pregnancy test strips in bulk online (20 tests for $16.95). Someone recommended the site and said they were quite dependable for the money and they actually claim to be the highest in sensitivity you can buy. (20/MIU/ml) They came in the mail today! People say these tests can start showing faint positives 6 days after conception. The jury is still out on these until I can use them though. I'll let you all know. If you do a search for early pregnancy tests you'll probably find all you need to know about them.
I agree with Mary. I also ordered HPT online. If you do a search for Early Pregnancy Tests you will find them. I ordered the mid-stream tests as well as one of the test strips, but I don't think I can do those right! Anyway, the more you buy, the cheaper they are. I think I bought 1 test for $2.50 and you can test days before your period. I think most of the name brands are fine, but you need to be further along to get a pos result on some of them. Be sure to check the HCG count MIU's or something. The lower the number, the more sensitive the test. Also, never buy only one test. You definately will want a min of 2 or in my case, 6!! ha! Best of "positive" luck to you! -J
Also, with the early pregnancy test site.. if you spend $14.95 or more shipping is free which is why I bought 20 tests. This way I won't be buying anymore for a while (hopefully won't need to) and in the long run save money not having to pay shipping every time I buy them.
believe it or not, I took a First Response that could tell four days early. I took it 8 days early and got a faint, faint line (first morning PP). I then took an equate (Walmart brand) because I'd already spent too much money on them 2 days early, and got a clear positive. I may have just been lucky.
[This message has been edited by siren24 (edited 02-08-2003).]
I think they are all the same I know my doc. says that they are all. I have used both a got same results. I think a test is a test pretty much other than some can let you test earlier and find out sooner so they say but they never worked out that way for me.
WISHIN FOR A BABY GIRL
I've taken the store brand and the name brand and I don't think there's too much of a difference. (course they both came out negative for me) But with previous pregnancies I've used the store brand and been lucky with the results. Best of luck to you!
I've had the best luck with Clear Blue. EPT is always so faint you think you're imagining the line! But Clear Blue is just that--very clear. I just had a positive Clear Blue this evening, but won't get too excited until I have a few blood tests. I had a miscarriage about 2 months ago, so I'm sort of a nervous wreck. I'm so hopeful. You just can't help it!
My sister-in-law told me that she took one from the doctor's office and got a BFN, then waited a day or so and tested again, that time, she received a faint line, and finally went to the supermarket and bought another HPT that day she got ++++++++++ I visited with them yesterday - he is one month old! She gave me hope with her story. Just keep testing! I have a First Response that's burning a hole in my drawer! I am waiting until Friday, today makes 3 days late!!!!!
Congratulations Goldengirl! Please let us know what's going on???? What symptoms do you have? I am so excited for you and all the others that have received +++'s. Take care, you'll all be just fine!
There is actually a full website that rates all the different HPT, their manufactures, their sensitivity to the pregnancy hormones and etc. If I remember right the Equate Walmart ones were made by the same CO that makes CLear Blue or one of the other big names. I used one and it was accurate at about 10 weeks. ( I don't pay attention when I miss) Good luck whichever way you want it to show!
