Low Iron

What does it mean to have a low iron count and hemoglophin in your third trimester. My wife just got that report, but isn't too concerned. I am, though. She had toxemia last time. Is this a serious condition?
What are the causes?

Re: Low Iron

When I was told that I was just anemic. Does your wife chomp on ice a lot?? That is a sign on anemia. Basically she is fine but just urge her to eat iron rich foods...like green leafy veggies. The baby is taking most of her nutrients right now and is making a store of its own. I wouldn't worry about it. Me and my stepmom were like this at the end of our preg. I too had toxemia so I understand your concern. She will be ok. If it was serious the doc or midwife would prescribe something.

cooked oysters
some cereals are good in iron

other stuff that is good:
chickend,m turkey

more tips:

Also try to drink a glass of Oj with meals, it helps the body use iron
Milk Products are low in iron!!

Compliments of WIC

Hope this helps!
