What are the odds of getting pregnant by someone who has a vasectomy and plus having sex while I am on my period?
I had a feeling I was pregnant by my ex boyfriend although it had not been long enough for me to tell for sure. I started my period really early(which never happens) and during that time is when I slept with the other guy, who has the vasectomy.
What are the chances that he is the father or is that even possible?
I don't know what the odds are but it can happen. I was just talking to a woman last night who said she watched her husband get his 2nd vasectomy because she got pregnant after the 1st one. I've heard of a few other people in my town that this has happened to. I am pregnant with my last and my hubby got a vasectomy after I found out. I am now planning on having my tubes tied as well. So, I don't want to scare you and I had heard it was rare but, I guess it can happen. Good luck.
You can get preg. by a man who has had a vasectomy and it is also possible to get preg. if you have had your tubes tied. Hubby and I are having both done. I really don't want anymore kids. The Depo shot is supposed to be 99% effective..just as a vasectomy and having your tubes tied. Well, here I am preg. and I was on the shot a whole 3 months before I got preg. Nothing is certain except no sex!

hi there! vasectomies have to work right?! all my husband used to have to do was look at me and i got pregnant! and 15 months after his vasectomy and 14 months after my third baby was born, i haven't gotten pregnant yet! seriously though, i have heard it's possible but kind of rare so i hope the outcome is the one you wanted. good luck! kim. <IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dance.gif">
Yeah it is really rare to get preg. with a vasectomy or when you have had your tubes tied. But it does happen. I am not taking chances this time...hubby and I are both getting our respective surgeries. I am having a c-section so as long as they are in there why not? LOL!!! I just got all my cats neutered and my hubby tells them not to worry that he is next! Oh goodness, what will I do with him??

A friend of mine told me why vasectomies are not always effective. Apparently some men have 3 tubes (I don't know if tube is the correct term) that can carry sperm. If it is not discovered, there is a tube left open. I guess it's fairly common. If someone keeps getting pregnant even after her husband has had a vasectomy, good chance they don't know that there is still a tube open. Obviously I don't really understand much about the male anatomy, but this makes sense to me.
You are not sterile until the doctor says so having analysed semen samples. Therefore other means of birth control have to be used until you are declared sterile by the doctor. There have been many cases of babies conceived after a vasectomy due to adequate precautions not being taken until the man has been declared sterile. The failure rate of vasectomy is 0.04% which translates to 4 out of 100,000 pregnancies occur after vasectomy. This rate is attributed to the fact that it takes about 16 weeks for sperm to completely clear. During this time, it's possible to get pregnant and precautions have to be taken.
Couples need to be counseled better after vasectomy in the importance of returning for their semen analyses until they are declared sterile.
Thank you. I completely forgot, I had him send me a copy of a doctors statement that he had tested sterile. I can not believe I forgot about that. Thank you so much for reminding me. That is a weight lifted off of my shoulders. At least for now.
