My husband and I are trying to have our second child. I think I may be pregnant, but am still about 8 days away from when my period would normally start. Should I buy a home test and test with a.m. urine, or am I wasting my money and should just hold out another week or so. I want to know NOW! But I also don't want to throw my money away
Hi! I took a test 16 DPO in the evening and got a negative result. I have been charting my temps and they are still up so I probably tested too early. I would venture to guess that 8 DPO is way too early to test. The absolute best thing to do is take one the day after AF is due and use FMU.
I suppose if you really like to test you can look for cheap pregnancy tests online and use those. I've heard of people getting them for $1 a piece. Good luck to you! I hope you get a BFP!
I would say 8 days before AF is too early...I think the earliest you can test with an accurate result is 4 days before your period, but even then you may bring up a false negative. I would wait until you are one day late, then that way you won't be getting a false result!
I bought 20 early home pregnancy test strips for .84 cents each (that is including shipping) so that I could test freely and not feel guilty. I'd say it's still too early but for future months look into buying the cheap ones online so when you just can't help but test early its not too much of a waste.
my df tested two days before her period was due and got a faint but positive result. we are now 17weeks and 3days along. They have them for upto 4 days prior to when af should come, so you could test up to 4 days early, but use the first morning urine for best concentration. good luck and God bless
Thanks everyone! I think I can wait the 4-8 days you've all sugested. Waiting is hard! But at least there are a lot of us here playing the waiting game; we're not alone.
hi! it depends on how badly you're dying to know. Lots of people have false negatives when they test before AF, but I began testing about 8 days prior because I was dying to know, then by 5 days prior with my first morning urine, I got a faint positive. So, if you want to spend the money, it could be worth it just to know. I'd still say wait a couple days, though. I found out 5 days before AF on a 3 day before test, but from everything I've read on here, that was not a common occurrence.
