I was just wondering, for your personal experiences, how long did it take to get pregnant after going off the pill ?
I stopped taking the pill on Christmas day, started taking folate and vitamin suppliments the same time.
(Hoping to get pregnant this month, the first month
off the pill for 4 years). Im 24, Married, been on the pill for 4 years now, no health conditions I know of.
You need to wait until you have been off the pill for a month before you start trying to get pregnant. This way it lets your body flush out the hormones and gives your body a chance to return to normal. This is advice from most doctors. It also makes it easier to determine when the conception occurred.
So just wait out this cycle and then start trying.
1st time took me 4+ years. 2nd time I went off Thanksgiving day and found out I was pregnant on Christmas day! I had my physical in November and discussed this with my doctor. He told me that it was an old wive's tale about waiting. He said the pill does not stay in your system, that is why you shouldn't skip a day if you don't want to get pregnant. This doctor is chief of staff and and a fertility specialist. Of course I am sure other doctors out there do tell patients to wait, I guess to each his own. But anyway I didn't and I have a healthy child. My advice would be to ask your doctor. Some women even go ahead and visit their doctor and start taking the vitamins you take when you are pregnant. I had several friends do that. Best wishes.
I was wondering how that worked, on one hand the doc and pill instructions tell you not to miss a day, or even be an hour late for taking the pill, or you could
fall pregnant, while on the other hand it will take a
whole month for the pill to disapear from the system.
I have a doctors appointment tomorrow to discuss this
all with him. My ovulation due date is Tuesday so
me and Husband have been using condoms. (I Went off
the pill on Christmas morning, when Auntie Flow arrived).
