what is it

I will be sitting studying or maybe doing housework and for about 2 seconds I feel a fast pulsing in my chest/neck. You know where the 'dip'(some call it the sweet spot)is between your collar bones. I am heavier so this is worrying me a little. What on earth could this be? Should I be alarmed? I will mention it to the doctor on Thurs but was curious if anyone else has experienced this.

Re: what is it

this is normal with a pregnancy.I have it also and I am overweight. but thats not why a fast beating heart and getting dizzy some too these are common things. just when it happens sit down a few miniutes to catch your breath and feel better it will go away.

Re: what is it

I have it pretty frequently, and I'm small build. I have Mitral Valve prolapse, so when it happened to me I was concerned because I'd been symptom free for quite a while and I thought it may be acting up again. The doctor told me that it is normal in any pregnancy because of your increased blood volume, and heart palpitations are also common because your heart works much harder to get all that blood where it needs to go.
