I'm getting a belly stripe!

I went to the doctor today... my lab results were all good, afp was normal, blood pressure was perfect, the heartbeat was thumping right along at 150, my measurements were perfect, and we scheduled my 20 wk U/S!!!! I was on cloud 9, then I got home, raised my shirt up, and realized that I was getting the vertical stripe that runs down the pregnant belly. Not attractive at all. Oh well, small price to pay for all this good news.

Re: I'm getting a belly stripe!

How can you know your afp results already? It's takes a week to test usually or did you mean that the test went good? I haven't ever got that stripe, but I have to say all that good news is certainly something to be happy about. I get my u/s on March 13th!!! One month from today!!

Re: I'm getting a belly stripe!

Glad all went well for you with your tests. Val is 16 weeks pg and just had the afp test, so we're anxiously awaiting the results. we go for our big u/s on the 26th of this month and hopefully the baby will cooperate. As for the beautiful "linea negra" or belly line, it's from all the hormones and will go away after the birth. Vals' was quite dry after her 2 dd's were born, so she used lotion and baby oil on it. Soon it started to peel and flake off. It took longer for the brown in her belly button to come off, but looks fine right now. We are waiting to see if she gets it with this pg as well. Oh the things you precious women have to go through ! take care

Re: I'm getting a belly stripe!

lovely, I actually got the blood work done a couple weeks ago, and we went over the results today. The chances of the baby having chromosomal defects or spinal defects are 1 in 10,000 and at my age, the Down's Risk is only 1 in 1700 anyway, so the doc said that those odds were great. He seemed really pleased. The baby moved around so much he had to chase it down to get the heartbeat for long enough to get a rate.

Re: I'm getting a belly stripe!

lol.... starbuk, you're right, that is sick. I'm kidding, of course. I'm really rather proud of mine. It's really faint right now. I can barely see it, but I'm sure it will get there. Funny thing is, I spend alot of time staring at my bare belly both in the mirror and looking down at it (am I the only one that does that?) and I hadn't noticed it until today. All of this pregnancy stuff just seems to be happening to me overnight. Nothing gradual about it!

Re: I'm getting a belly stripe!

Hey Siren,

No you are not the only one who stares at their belly!! I do too!!! Evertime after I pass by a mirror practically. Mine seems to have grown more overnight too, maybe that's why I have gained 3 lbs. since Sunday. I am proud of my tummy and I can't wait for the stripe either!!!!
