I had my first daughter back in 1999. I had an episiotomy, but I have NO idea how many stitches I had.
I can still see the scar and its about an inch and a
half long. I can tell that it was made inside my vagina just a little bit and then down to the left.

So how many stitches would you think would make a one and a half to a two inch scar??? I know your probably thinking why do I want to know this, but I just do.

P.S Im pregnant again(18 weeks) will they cut down the old scar or not?

Maybe no cutting at all, I had an episiotimy With my first, healing hurt, my second child i didnt even have an episiotimy, she let me tear (a little) i was concerned and asked her, she says that you heal faster when u tear and she was right i did, im sure ther are situations where im not not be avoided but at least its an option to consider in your birthing plan, hope it helps

A friend of mine had one the first time, but the second time she did not have one and did not tear. They used warm cloths to help stretch the area, right before she delivered. At our pre-natal class I talked to the nurse about this and she told me to make sure you talk to your nurse and tell her you do not want to tear and are very concerned about that. You do have to have one if you have forecepts or the VBAC done.
