Ladies, I tried them all with my daughter, And only one worked, so only tr with doc's permission.
Here's how they worked for me.
Castor Oil--- Wow, didn't even touch me.
Mineral Oil-- Same effect
Blue cohosh And Black Cohosh, brought on a few contractions, but nothing strong enough to help me dialate, they did however deplete my checking account.
Rasberry tea(the real stuff, not nestea)--Actually helped me dilate(sp?), but that could be (according to the doc) that it helped me sleep, or I just drank it at the same time my body decided to go ahead and start.
Bumpy Road--- I was searching for a bathroom.
Anyone else have any stories to share???
lots and lots of sex!!!
it's recommended by a lot of midwives.
there's a small amount of the same hormone they use to induce labour, in semen.
(of course never do "it" if your waters are already broken).
it worked for me, (8 days before my due date).
the best things about trying this are;
if it doesn't work, just keep at it! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dance.gif
I heard that running the sweeper could make you go into labor. Something about the noise the sweeper makes, makes the baby curious and the want to go toward the noise. I actually tried this with my son, and I don't know if it worked or if it was just a coinsidence. But, I went into labor 2 hrs after running the sweeper.
Although, I was so misreable I didn't feel like sweeping my whole floor. I just stood in one spot and moved the sweeper back and forth. I had on REALLY clean spot on my carpet.
I think the sweeper is connected to the strong nesting instinct you get before you deliver.
I read about the breast massage bringing on labor and we started doing this around ll:30 p.m. on the night before the day I was due and sure enough, at the stroke of l2 my water broke and I went into instant hard labor.
yes, i had heard the sex one, but my hubby was deployed at the time, so I couldn't try that one...even a midwife recommended it. the sweeper however is a new one, i'll keep it in mind, and let yiou all know in june.
My massage therapist, also a great friend, told me that there are foot massages that can start labor and help it along. She won't show me though till I'm actually IN labor. *sigh* She did say she would teach them to DH though so he could do them when we leave the house and go to the birthing center...
I have heard that you shouldn't get a foot massage after your second trimester. So there may be something to it. :}
