We had our first u/s today, and we saw one little heartbeat (I am 6 1/2 weeks). I was so relieved b/c I had been spotting for about a week (stopped on Sunday). The heartbeat was only about 105 / minute, and the RE was a little concerned. Anybody have any experience with this?
About five weeks after your last period (three weeks after fertilization), the fetal heart starts beating, and a week or so later, can first be seen by transvaginal ultrasound. A normal fetal heart rate at six weeks is about 90 bpm to 113 bpm; at nine weeks, it's up to 144 bpm to 170 bpm. If at six to eight weeks the fetus shows a heart rate below 90 bpm, there's an 80% chance of a miscarriage. But if the fetal heart rate is above 100 bpm, the miscarriage risk drops to less than 10%.
Hi! Im new here and just saw your post. When I was 7 weeks 4 days I had an ultrasound to see the heatbeat. It was 165 BPM. Not to scare you but 105 is VERY low. When pregnant embryo's Heartrate should be high and no where below 135 BPM. In early pregnany the heart rate should be VERY high in the 165-170. Then after 12 weeks should be near the 140's. I hope everything goes well!! Did the docs reschedule you for another appointment? Best of luck to you!!
JodyC, how exciting! I didnt get to hear mine at 6.5 , I thought it was to early to hear so i was happy with seeing it. I want to call my dr now and demand a hearing...ILL wait until may 5th my next appt...maybe.

I have to agree with Coppertop cause I did a little searching myself. If the doctor was truly concerned with the low heartrate, they would have done a transvaginal u/s or something of the sort or put you on bedrest maybe. Just don't get yourself stressed out and if it would make you feel better, make another appointment for a week and a half away and ask to listen to the heartbeat again!
Good luck!

I'm sure everything is fine with your little one.
I'm sure if your RE was concerned, he would have put you on bed rest, and would be seeing you before April 30th. Please try to relax, because as we both know stress is not good for you or your little.
Everything is going to be fine, and I hope you little one puts on a good show for you on the 30th!

I cannot thank you guys enough for your support, especially going out on the internet and looking up stats for me. You're right, I am going to enjoy this pregnancy (finally), and just know that it is in God's hands now.
Congratulations! Seeing and/or hearing the heartbeat is absolutly an amazing feeling isn't it? I'm sorry that I can't help you out with your heartrate question but I would try not to worry too much.
Hi sweet Jody!! God does have you and your little miracle in His hands!!! I agree if the doc was really concerned he would be seeing you a lot sooner. I would tend to agree with the stats Coppertop told you and go with that. I will be praying for you both!!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/heart.gif Let us know how it goes on April 30th o.k.!! (((((((hugs)))))))

FYI, there is nothing wrong with the post above. It shares the concern, and personal experience.
The reader should check with her doctor to be SURE the baby is OK, not just assume.
There IS something wrong with attacking the writer of the post. This is strictly NOT allowed. Then you attacked her for being defensive. Those of you that attacked should get a grip!
Feel good replies are great, but that does not exclude realism. Either welcome newbies or else move on somewhere else!
