Unhappy ULTRASOUND

Hello everyone,

I am not trying to get medical advice first of all, but we had and 18 week ultrasound to determine the child's sex and when we get the report back, it says "Stomach and three vessel cord are not well demonstrated at this time." We have placed calls to our physician but he is unavailable at the hospital. Has this ever appeared on anybody else's US report? Does this mean our child has no stomach? We are very scared!

I'm not sure what it means, but please do not get to upset yet. If it was that your baby had no stomach they would of said something to you then and offered you further testing. Have you had your triple screening test yet? That can usually tell you alot about things like this. Maybe it just means that they could not get a good pic of it...I'm sure if it was anything worse they would of told you then. I have just gone through the worst few days of my life and my doctor was very helpful through it all. Just keep your hopes up and keep calling your doctor...

Thank you Carmen. I am new to the board and am so sorry for what you are going through. Mine seems so unimportant to what you are going through. Take care and God Bless

Every baby is important and i would hate for anyone else to go through what I have. I totally feel though that if something horrible like that was wrong with your baby they would of told you then that they needed more test. When I got my triple screen results and then the u/s results my doctor told me then that I would have to travel and have a level 2 u/s and a MRI scan. So please try to stay calm...keep trying to call your doctor and then let us know what he says...I will be thinking of you until then. Thanks for you kind words to me also...

CMR71,
The wording kind of sounds like a fancy way of saying they were not able to get a good view of the stomach or three vessel cord. That would be my guess. I agree with Carmen, I think they would of said something at the time, or gotten a doctor or another tech to check it out if something had been wrong. Try not to worry

I do not have any answers for you on the results they wrote, but wanted to let you know that we will keep you in our prayers for a happy, healthy baby. We just went through our testings and Level 2 us/ (due to our age) and we were very thankful that all is fine, so we can definitely relate to your concerns.

Please keep calling your doctor and leave a message! Hopefully they'll call you back very soon and discuss the results. It's a good thing you got the u/s when you did. I'm 18 wks too. I hope they would have told you then that they needed/suggested more testing. Please let us know how it goes.

In Love and Light,

L & J (1st baby EDD 9/15/03)

Just to let you know that when I was preg with my son, it took three u/s's to get a look at the four chambers of the heart, I was afraid, but sometimes they just can not get a good look.

Hi there... I called my friend for you who is an u/s tech assistant at a local hospital. He said that means they just couldn't see it clearly. They often can't get a good picture of it because of the way the baby is turned or the cord is laying. It took my doc 15 minutes to get a look at the cord at my 20 week u/s because of the way the baby was lying and the position of the cord. It was kind of folded up behind him and he was blocking all view of it. I agree with everyone else. They would have said something or ordered more extensive tests if there was a real problem.

I had my ultrasound around 20 weeks. and i also had a statement that the stomach was not present or not seen. Then when i went back for my prenatal appt. at my doctor's office, he did another ultrasound and the stomach was THERE ^_^ ... so, i am not sure what your case is. but, when i had my BIG ulstrasound at the ultrasound specialist, she did not see the stomach. but 2 weeks later, the doctor saw it clearly on the u/s ... so....... hope everything is well!!

I think it just means that they couldn't get a good picture of it. They have to have a picture of every part of the baby to turn in to the doctor. It took them 2 hours to get a good picture of my baby's heart chambers. If something was wrong they would have told you.
