is anyone else here rh negative? i go to the dr. tommorrow and he might give me a rhogam shot b/c i have had spotting. Has anyone else had that shot? Are there any side effects?
Hi there! I too am negative and I was supposed to get the shot from my pharmacy last night......to bring to my OB doc today so he can give it to me (you're supposed to get the shot right around 30 weeks) and the pharmacy was telling me that the shot cost $3,100.00.....and that my copay was $600- - this is a long way from the $150-$200.00 I was told 3 weeks ago when I had them place the order to get me one in......
anyway, the pharmacy made a huge mistake......first of all, that huge serange contained 25 ml of fluid.....which is like an ounce of fluid! When it's only supposed to contain 1 ml - so that the Rogham shot they were going to let me leave with had enough rogham for 25 people!
The Pharmacist didn't admit to the mistake but said that he was going to check it out...meanwhile, I am getting the shot on Saturday from the office.
AS for side effects....I know of none. It is to make sure that just in case your blood mixes with the baby's during delivery........the baby will not get sick.

Thanks Starbuk, Wow! I would be super mad if that happened, but thankfully they caught it. So did the price decrease too when they realized the mistake?
I am only ~8 weeks, but I read if you have bleeding you have to have a shot just in case.
Starbuk, did your dr. test the dad's blood to see if he was negative too first? I guess if he's neg. then there's no need to get the shot b/c the baby will be neg.
I am also RH- . I've had at least 3 or 4 Rhogam shots in the past. I don't remember any reactions, not to say you can't have one. Seems like the shot burned a little going in, but it's been a couple of years since my last one. I'm 24 weeks PG, so I'm due for a Rhogam shot soon. My husband is RH+.
Do you have any other symptoms besides the spotting?

I am RH- and I bled/spotted 3 times during the first trimester but I haven't had the shot yet. Is it necessary when you spot/bleed to have it? When it was brought up to my Dr. he pretty much said that I didn't need it. Now I'm worried that I did need it? I'll be 20 weeks tomorrow.
