I don't know about the bubbles, but I do know that taking baths that are too hot can hurt the baby, especially in the first trimester. If your body temperature gets too high, it can hurt the fetus. Probably has the same effect as a fever.
Hi... I'm 30 weeks pg and have been taking bubble baths since first trimester. My doctor said they were absolutely fine. He is also from the "new school" and says that AFTER the first 6 weeks or so, there is absolutely no evidence that hot baths will harm the baby. (Warm baths are okay even then, though.) He told me that a hot bath will not raise your body temperature enough to cause a problem unless you stay in there so long you get red faced or dizzy. He said you'd pretty much have to be in up to your neck for a long time to get your body temp to dangerous levels.
I tried out his advice, and took a 30 minute hot bath up to my waist, and checked my temp. It was only slightly elavated, like, 98.9. People have questioned this until they drive me crazy (as if they have MD's) but all I can say is I have been taking regular bubble baths this whole pregnancy, and on all my ultrasounds and the fetal monitor, my baby boy looks perfect.
hello pecan brown....
i was having problems posting, so if this appears twice, i apologize!
i like your username, you must be from the south!
i have heard that bubble baths are not recommended. just what i have heard.
take care!!
there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking a bubble bath, thats like telling a pregnant woman not to use perfume or certain lotions, bubble bath is topical. THe only thing that is cautioned against is teh temp of the water and like someone else already pointed out I dont really think its probably that great of a deal to take a hot bath anyway....
I took bubble baths with both my kids. I am a hot bubble bath sort of girl. I made sure the first 6 weeks that they were just warm... then after that the doc said it was fine. Like someone pointed out, your body temp takes a long time to rise in a tub. Bubble baths feel SO good when prego. Indulge ladies, its awesome!!!! Feels good on the aching body. LOL.
