When I had my glucose screening, I was required to fast at least 8 hours before. It doesn't sound like thats how is done everywhere. Im just wondering how the test is done in other places.
I have low sugar. There is no way I can go 12 hours without eating. I would be laying in the floor. My glucose screening is at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. My doc did not say anything about fasting. I will call her in the morning and ask her.
Something else I cannot remember: I know I take it 1 hour before the test, but lets say my appt is at 2:30 so do I drink it within 15 minutes starting at 1:30 or starting at 1:15? And is it within 15 or 5 minutes? 15 I think.

I actually did fast for about 12 hours before mine. I had to go to the lab at medical center for my test. I went there, they gave me the stuff to drink and I show up an hour later for them to draw blood. Thats how they did it last time too.
Well with the 1 hr test I didn't have to fast at all and I think that hopefully is why I failed. The time you make note of is when you finish the drink and on my bottle it said to drink it within 5 min. if you can but I don't think it really matters if it takes 15 min. So if you finished at 1:15 you should have your blood drawn at 2:15 for the 1 hr.
With the one I get to do tomorrow the 3-4 hr. one I have to fast 10-12 hrs. and go to the lab for my drink after they take my blood the first time then I take the drink and then every hour I will have to get my blood drawn. Doesn't that sound like sooo much fun?!
