Red face Blue Toes?

My toes have been turning really blue the last week or so if I spend any time without my feet up, especially sitting. I'm 35 weeks. Anybody else had this? Is this normal pregnancy circulation stuff or a problem?

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't have that. I would tell your doctor. It could be pre-eclampsia. Are they swollen? My ankels get a little puffy in the evening but that is all.

Definitely ask your MD about it, either at your next appt. or by phone... I've never read or heard about anything like that happening as a result of "normal" pregnancy circulation issues, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen to some people!

I would ask your OB, just to be safe. Diabetics have circulation problems like that... but, you are probably just fine!

Siren-

I have the same thing...my feet and ankles swell so bad along with my toes that they turn blue...the ONLY thing that helps is lying on my side with my feet propped...that is so not easy! How has your blood pressure been??

Jamie, I know exactly how you feel... I can't seem to get comfortable. My back hurts no matter what! Especially with my feet propped up. My blood pressure has been great, in the 100's-110's the whole pg. I'm waiting on a call back from the doc's office. I figure they will just tell me to elevate them.

One thing that does not say Pre-eclamsia is blue toes. I've had it and done alot of homework on pre-eclampsia and that is not an issue. This happens to people who aren't even pregnant too. Usually if you are cold you'll notice that your toe nails turn a purplish-blue color. Circulation is strained with the ordinary swelling of your feet and toes during pregnancy. This causes less circulation to reach little things like your toes. Watch you sodium to decrease swelling and drink plenty of water. Though swelling can and may happen regardless of diet, you can aid how much you swell by eating good. I was the Stay Puff marshmellow guy from Ghost Busters the last 3 weeks of pregnancy with my first baby. It was awful. Tell your doctor if it concerns you. I am sure it is just tense circulation, but always double check with a professional.
