Hi everyone, this is a question about low progesterone counts during the first tri-mester. My DIL is 6 wks pregnant and she went for her first appointment last Thursday, the dr. ordered some blood test and called her and told her that her progesterone was to low and called in a rx for some to be taken every 6 hours.
I tried to go back over the old posts but found there are too many postings here for me to try to find the answers. What does this mean? Have any of you had an experience with this?
The last time I was pregnant I delivered May 1, 1980.
That was with the expectant father - they didn't do tests like this back in the old days. I would appreciate any info you could give me. Thanks
I had a m/c in january and it was suspected to be because of low progesterone. I became pregnant again in March and when i was 5 weeks my progesterone level was taken, it was very low so my dr prescribed prometrium. He had my levels drawn every 3 days and they continued to climb. When I hit 13 weeks i was taken off the medication and i am now 26 weeks. So, if you ask me, it works. Good Luck!!
I had low Prog. too, it almost caused me to m/c at 7 wks. I got the cramping to finally stop after 4 days with some wild Yam tea, it causes your body to make prog. I used progesterone cream until I got to 3 1/2 months when the placenta makes enough to keep the pregnancy going. Good luck, Hope I was able to help you.

DH returning from OIF November 2006!
I am currently 5 wks 4 days pg and taking progesterone pills every 8 hours. I have low levels and have had 3 m/c and 1 (hopefully 2 w/ this one) successful pregnancies. Most docs take you off it somewhere between 10 - 13 weeks.
