My ankles haven't looked like mine in a while. This is definately a sign of pg. The haet can cause this too. My sister calls it cankles. Because you can't tell the difference between your calf and ankle!

Do you know if you are pregnant already? If not swollen ankles could be related to a thousand things. It does occur in pregnant women but not usually until the end of second trimester or later. It can be related to high blood pressure or just the fluids pooling at the lowest spot while you stand. Definately elevate your feet for a while. That will be a big relief. Good luck!
I think how much you swell is a person to person thing too. A woman I worked with didn't swell at all, and I swell up all the time. I have normal bp and am only in my 2nd trimester.

Throughout my pregnancy, my ankles and legs slowly sweeled. I just thought i got fat in the legs from eating too much A week after i had my baby girl, my legs were back to normal size. They swelled even worse after delivery as well, so if you are pregnant, be prepared for that... You can hardly walk! (Well i couldn't anyway). My BP rose during my last month though, so you need your BP checked regularly if associated with swelling.
I am 5w6d today and I noticed all day yesterday my ankles were really swollen and even my legs just look bigger all over! I feel swollen and bloated all over. I'm drinking at least a gallon of water a day and eating pretty healthy. Isn't it too early for this? I've always had really excellent blood pressure 113/69, just a little lower than the normal 120/80, so I don't think I should be worried about high blood pressure, right? P.S. I love "cankles"! That is soo funny and very descriptive! Unfortunately, it looks like that will how I refer to my legs for the next 8 months!
