Hello! yes most doctors will not see a pregnant women until she is anywhere from 10-12 weeks unless she has a history of problem pregnancies, I am not sure why they wait so long but that's the way they do it. Congrats and a happy haelthy 9 months to you
I had my first appointment at 6 weeks 3 days. I called the doc office on Monday 8/11 and the my first appointment was Wednesday 8/27 (two weeks later). I'm not sure what the normal time frame is???? I was just happy to get in early. Good luck to all of you

I called every dr in town that takes my insurance (two pages worth of drs.) They varied from 7 wks to 12 wks. I even explained to all of them that I had a leep done in 11/02 and my last pap showed dysplasia again, and that I was freaking out! I finally convinced one to get me in 9/16 (I'll be 6w5d). I asked one of the dr's offices why they make you wait so long and she said something like, well, we can't really hear a heartbeat any earlier than that anyway. I personally think its terrible. I mean, the first few weeks are so important to the development of the baby. I'm sure that once every woman gets the big + they want to get to the dr to make sure they are doing everything possible to have ahealthy baby. Thank god for my mom and the internet, because I was clueless about vitamins, what to eat, what to avoid, what some of the weird, but normal syptoms are! Sorry, I had to vent. I am just so anxious to get to the dr and hear from them that everything is ok and normal!
Hi guys I was told that the reasoning behind not seeing anyone before approx 9 weeks is to filter out all the very early miscarriages. not very nice to hear - but there you go!
