Post question about 20 week ultrasound

hello everyone. i am having a 20 week ultra sound in a couple weeks to determine the sex of the baby. I was wondering if they can usually always tell or if they can't sometimes. I have heard if the baby's legs are crossed they wont be able to tell. Has this happened to any of you. did most of you find out what you were having at the 20 week ultrasound? Also, if they cant tell, how long will they make me wait before they do it again?

I'm having mine tomorrow morning, I'll let you know. From what I understand, they can usually tell, it depends on the tech. If they say it's a boy, it a boy. If they say it's a girl, it could still be a boy..just hiding it's bits.

I have had 2 ultrasound and both times they couldn't get a clear view between the legs. Usually you are able to find out at your 20 week u/s...unless your baby is a little stinker like ours.

Good luck!

They told my sister that she was having a boy, & it actually turned out to be a girl. But, yeah, that is usually uncommon.

I thought I read somewhere that at that stage of your pregnancy the baby's fallopian tubes would be developed if it was a girl and the boys, etc. I think a level 2 ultrasound will clearly depict the sex b/c it measures everything. good luck to you. I just had a level 2 at 21 weeks and they were able to show me the baby's penis. Good Luck.

The guy who did my 20 week ultrasound would not tell me what the sex of my baby was as he believed there were more important things to worry about than the sex (which is true, but i still wanted to know).

Generally you only have one ultrasound, but i had another one at 26 weeks becuase my fundal height was too large and they wanted to reconfirm my dates, and the lady told me (even though my baby's legs were crossed) that she thought it was a girl, and i did have a beautiful girl on the 14th of August this year.

Good luck with the ultrasound, and if you wish to find out the sex, i hope you do!!

Well they could definately tell the sex, they just wouldn't tell me. It was cool to see the baby and everything was fine.

I just has mine today. I measure 20 weeks and it's a boy! The baby wasn't cooperating so the doctor turned me kindof upside down to make the baby move, he did! Good luck!
