Question hpt question

Hey,

I need some info. How early does an hpt generally give accurate results? I mean, I was supposed to start my period today, so now would be too early, right? Any info you can give me would be much appreciated.

You can take a HPT the first day that AF is late. HPT's are generally very accurate.

Hello! you can test the first day you miss your period. Sometimes alot of women donot have enough hcg in their urine to detect the pregnancy so if you do get a negative result wait another week or two and retest and if you still donot get af and your urine still shows neg make a doctors appointment and ask for a blood test this is more accurate and can be detected 8-10 days after conception. Good Luck

I took a First Response Early Result test. You're able to test up to 4 days before your period is due. I tested positive 4 days before my period was due.

The majority of the tests are greater than 99% accurate on the first day after a missed period. Then there is the one where you can test 3 days before your period is due. Those say they are accurate in 52% of women at 3 days before the period due date. Of course I was one of the 48%...got a BFN and was indeed pregnant. But for most people the day AF is due would not be too soon to test with any test.

Question

Hey,

I have another question: I know that you are supposed to take and HPT first thing in the morning to be accurate, but does it still work if you do it during the day? Like in the evening?

Hi,

You can test in the evening. But you are right, first morning urine it usually the strongest. When you buy the tests they usually come 2 or 3 to a box. I couldn't wait and tested later in the day. It was positive but showed only a light colored line. When I retested in the morning, it was still positive but the line was a darker shade. Good luck!

Oh yeah....one more thing.

Certain HPT are more sensitive in detecting the pregnancy hormone than others. I think EPT is the one that detects pregnancy with the least amount of hormone in the urine. Answer brand needs the most.

Good luck!
