Hi everyone. Went to the doctor today. All was good. She finally told me how many beats per minute the heart rate was. It was 150. Is this a boy or girl by the wives tale? Just curious. Also, my baby was kicking like crazy, is this a sign of anything? We thought it might be twins but nothing has been said yet so I guess it's probably not. Well, i'll close for now. Good luck to everyone! Smiles

Oh, and one more question. Does anyone know what it means when you use the needle and thread test and it goes from straight line to circle with no pauses in between? Just curious again. Thanks!

Hello! accourding to old wise tales if you are having a boy their heart beats below 150 and the needle will spin in circles, how ever these are just fun ways to guess and not 100% accurate, I am currently 20 weeks pg and I was told by the ultrasound tech that I am having a boy his heart rate has been in the 150's and above so I would not use the heart rate as a way of telling if it is a boy or girl. Good luck
Connie.... Im 22 wks so Due around the same time you are ( Your due in march too )
Its really funny but... EVERY SINGLE Mom due in March is having a boy that I have taked to..
And every Mom due in April is having a Girl!
My baby's heartbeat was 160 1st trimester and is now around 140 . And im having a boy!
I dont think the heartbeat thing works but...
If you know when you concieved... they say your chances of having a girl are greater if you had sex before you ovulated and a boy if you have sex during or after ovulation =)
( I had sex right after I ovulated and Im having a boy so it rang true for me )
Also the chineese gender chart was accurate for me =)
I've heard the opposite of Connie, that if the needle went straight (from side to side) over your wrist, it was a boy and in circles was a girl.
Also, my doctor said high heartrates are supposed to be girls if you believe old wives tales. My sis's babies heartrate is 160 and I think it's a girl, but I thought so before I even knew what it's heartrate was. Hopefully we'll find out soon. I want her to have a girl since i am having another boy and this is our last one.
I really don't think that the heartbeat is a very good predictor of the sex of the baby, especially given the fact that it is a lot faster in the earlier weeks of the pregnancy and then it does usually slow down.
