Drinking Red wine is good for baby? what?

I do not believe this one bit but I have heard from a bunch of people who have been pregnant drank a glass of wine during their 3rd trimester and concluded that their son/daughter (now between 2-5 yrs) is smarter then average. Has anyone else heard such a thing?

Re: Drinking Red wine is good for baby? what?

Several things to keep in mind:

1) Most parents believe their children are smarter than average. (And different children have different gifts, so in a way it might even be true.)

2) The plural of anecdote is not data. A child's intelligence is affected by so many things, I wouldn't call a few people's personal experience any type of evidence at all.

3) All that aside, fetal alcohol syndrome occurs when pregnant women drink a LOT. One glass of wine, in the third trimester after primary neurodevelopment, is unlikely to actually help your baby, but it probably won't do serious harm.
