i have been dealing with this for a while and want to see what others experience with Prostatitis. Drs say I have chronic prostatitis. I think everyone experiences prostatitis differently and so want to start this thread to see and talk about solutions.
Mine feels like I have to pee frequently. Night time too. Mostly bladder pressure lower abdominal. I feel like I am tightening muscles in my stomach sometimes. Some lower back pain (getting some sciatic pain lately). My prostate doesn't hurt I guess, not when the drs. touch it either, but they say the nerves can transfer that discomfort elsewhere. So I am feeling it below my belly button and if I press there it is uncomfortable. I have these symptoms all the time although they might subside a little.
What are others symptoms and do you get the same story from doctors that it is different for people?
Doctors tell me I need to exercise (walk often), stay away from the 4 c's (caffeine, citrus, carbonation, chocolate), take 2400 mg of ibuprofen a day, take a multi vitamin with zinc and also take saw palmetto, and drink lots of water to keep your urinary system working.
I guess I have to live with this even though hopefully some of this will subside over time. I look forward to some responses.
How old are you? I'm 26 and was just diagnosed w/ prostatitis. It really sucks. I have to pee a lot at night (usually at least twice) and also during the day. It is almost a painful urge to urinate. It doesn't feel normal....and it sort of aches after I go. Sometimes I get some quick shooting pains in the abdomen and I often have aching right behind my testicles. Does that happen to you? There are days when I have a real painful need to urinate and there is absolutely nothing in there. I had a DRE and my prostate, unlike yours, was pretty tender. I'm on Floxin right now and am going back to the doctor after 2 more weeks. I might request to go see a urologist but I don't really want to. You don't usually get prostate cancer at this young age right? One other thing that happens that just sucks is that I will dribble urine after every time I go. Like when I sit down or lay down. Sometimes even a couple of minutes later. I cannot get it all out. That is the worst thing of all. Anyways, if it is prostatitis like they say then I can live with it. Are my symptoms indicitave of more serious things that you can get that you need to get checked out?
I am 36 but have had some symptoms for a couple of years. the feeling of needing to pee during the day and peeing at night has recently started. I would go see a urologist and let them know your symptoms. They are good to talk to and confirm it is nothing serious. I don't think it is anything else for you or me. Our symptoms sound similar. Mine seem to change too.
The night thing is bad. I can lay there and try to go back to sleep and my bladder area feels funny, i have to pee, and it is hard to go back to sleep. I am not dribbling yet and hope I don't. i am dribbling when i go but not afterward. i am sure it is prostatitis and nothing more. it sucks but i am going to work on reversing it. If anyone has any ideas.
Yea, I'll do that. I am a student so I need to get referred out. I guess if the meds don't clear it up in 2 more weeks I'll go see one. I'm not too worried. Best of luck to you.
