| Psoriasis & OTC Products
My hairdresser just told me that I have psoriasis. She said she noticed it last time, but it wasn't nearly as bad, so she didn't mention it. I now have scaly, itchy patches on my scalp. My scalp is the only area of my body that is affected. I never knew that I had psoriasis, but I used to use a shampoo called psoriasin that helped somewhat. I can no longer find it. The hairdresser said that Wal-mart has a similar shampoo, but if that doesn't work, I should go to the doctor. My questions: can it get worse over time if it is not treated? I don't want to go to the doctor if I don't have to - I was just at the doctor (for an annual exam) and I don't have health insurance. She said it may not be able to be treated, anyway. I just don't want it to spread or become worse. Are there any OTC products that can help? I've tried T-Gel and dandruff shampoos - they help a little, but dry out my hair. Any ideas?
