Question Any ADVICE on How To Clear Up Psoriasis On Your Hands??

I have had Psoriasis since I was a teenager. I am now 45 and still have spots in different places. The areas that have healed has left pigmentation (light brown spots). When it comes to my legs, I can keep them covered by wearing pants all of the time; which I am not too impressed about as in the summer I can't wear shorts; which I would like to do like most people. I really envy the people that have clear legs and can show them off.

I know that Psoriasis can appear anywhere, but the worst place it can show up on is on the back of your hands....you CAN'T hide your hands. It used to be only on my left hand, but now there are patches on my right hand. I do have ointment prescribed by the doctor, but that doesn't always work.

I would appreciate any advice/tips that anyone can give me on alternatives that I can try in addition to the ointment, that may have helped others in decreasing the look of the patches and redness, or cleared it up somewhat.

Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Re: Any ADVICE on How To Clear Up Psoriasis On Your Hands??

I too get psoriasis on my hands sometimes. I use the meidcation OLUX. It is a foam and designed for your hair, but you can use it any where. In fact, OLUX has permanetly cleared up the spots on my scalp and knees. The great part about this med is that it is NOT greasy, so you won't be making a mess with everything you touch. Hope this helps you!

Re: Any ADVICE on How To Clear Up Psoriasis On Your Hands??

I have pustular psoriasis on my palms and soles. I'm kinda lucky cause when it looks bad I can keep my hands palms down and as long as no one wants to shake hands, they have no idea I've got it. I recently suffered a major flare after a cortisone injection. High potency topical steroids and Donovex weren't helping it a bit. I finally got a script for Tazorac cream and am really happy with the results. I've even read that after it's cleared, there's a good chance for up to 3 or 4 mos remission. That would be really nice.

The other thing the doc suggested was Doxycycline for it's anti inflammatory effects. I've heard a lot of people have had good success with that but I'm one to end up with colitis every time I do antibiotics so I thought I'd try the Tazorac first. I'm glad I did.

Re: Any ADVICE on How To Clear Up Psoriasis On Your Hands??

I do not have psoriasis but did read an article about clearing up this condition with, oddly enough, the inside of a banana peel. I tried this for the ezcema-like rashes I get on my legs and it did seem to work. It's worth a try in my opinion cause it's so simple! Just rub a fresh banana peel onto the rash daily, preferably after showering so it stays on
