| | Psoriasis, Psoriatic Arthritis and Laser Treatments?
Quick run-down... I'm 29 years old and have had psoriasis since I was a child (mostly on knees and elbows). It went into remission when I was about 10 years old.
When I was about 18 years old it came back, this time on my left ankle and it has not gone away or gotten better since (so we're talking 11 years now). I occasionally also get it above my eyelids.
I've used various steriod creams which help aleviate the problem, but nothing seems to clear it up. The patch of psoriasis encompasses the complete outer side of my ankle and at times spreads down to the top of my foot and up the side of my leg. Much of the time it is very red and inflamed.
Over the past few years I've noticed increased weakness in that ankle and just over the past year I've noticed that at times my ankle will just give out and I will almost fall over if I don't catch myself. I've also had stiffness, limited mobility and (very) slight swelling in that ankle.
Is it possible that I could have psoriatic arthritis in just my ankle? I don't seem to have any problems in other joints, just my ankle. I'm concerned that this will become a bigger problem in the future.
I have an appointment scheduled with a dermatologist for next Tuesday to discuss my psoriasis and other treatment options (possibly laser treatment).
Any thoughts on this from people who've dealt with it? Could I be dealing with psoriatic arthritis?
